Drinking on St. Patrick’s Day is a pretty standard holiday cliche. In fact there seem to be more St. Patrick’s Day drinking t-shirts than any other theme for the holiday. But there are other festive ways to celebrate the holiday in full-on green Irish style. Irish Central recently posted their list of 10 ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day that don’t involve a pub. Their top suggestion is to watch the John Wayne classic The Quiet Man. Watching an Irish-centric movie sounds like a good idea to me, and there are a lot more to choose from. Remember the Irish parade scene in Harrison Ford’s The Fugitive? For more fun movie ideas, check out the list of IMDb movies with the keyword Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day. And in case you want to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day the ‘traditional’ way, we’ve got a great selection of those funny Irish drinking shirts for you!

Monday, March 1st, 2010The Simpsons St. Pat’s Special to air in Ireland before US!
Wednesday, February 25th, 2009Wow, here’s a first for TV’s long-running hit cartoon The Simpsons.
The St Patrick’s Day special will air in Ireland before it’s transmitted in the US.This is quite a move. In fact, it’s unprecedented in the 20-year history of Fox, the home (and butt of many jokes) of The Simpson family.
The new episode is called ‘In The Name Of The Grandfather’ and will see Homer attempting to honour Grampa’s dream of a final beer in a pub in the village of Dunkilderry. The pair eventually end up buying the pub off Tom O’Flanagan, whose voice has been provided by Irish actor Colm Meaney.
The special episode will be screened on St Patrick’s Day itself.
